Bansko opens its first golf course in Razlog

Bansko – Razlog Golf is synonymous with the Ian Woosnam signature Pirin golf course. From 2009, thousands of golfers and Pirin Golf and Country Club residents will be teeing off, and enjoying the lush fairways and perfectly-prepared greens against the spectacular backdrop of Pirin and Rila mountains. The club is even expected to play host to an international golf championship as early as 2010.

The small Bulgarian town of Bansko at the foothills of Pirin mountains is often thought of as the home of the Pirin golf course. In fact, the private plot on which the Pirin Golf and Country Club gated community is located is in the Razlog municipality. However, Bansko and Razlog are just 3 miles apart, and the Pirin Golf and Country Club provides the only golf course in the region.
